Homayni
Although mostly inhabited by Muslims, Yemenite Jews still have a powerful effect on the music of the country. Conventional Yemenite music is played at a house or dwelling whiles the inhabitants, (mostly men) are intoxicated by locally made drugs call qat. This type of music performed is called homayni, (sung poetry). The most common type of this form of music is called Sanaa, (the hour of Solomon). This Yemenite tradition is done in the cities and town across the realm. The befuddled participants of this merry past-time commonly talk of new, art, philosophy, or what you normally hear at the local bar in America. A tradition such as this has survived centuries of turmoil and uncertainty, as the same goes for its music.
